Playa del Carmen has a wide variety of activities and entertainment to offer tourists that visit Mexico. Whether you want to try a new, exciting sport, explore a jungle, or simply enjoy the beach and relax on your vacation; you find it here in Playa del Carmen.

For those that like to keep busy and where the action is, there are several options in Playa del Carmen, such as diving, fishing, skydiving, parasailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, snorkeling, cenote diving, golfing, horseback riding, ATV jungle tours, visiting parks, ziplining, swimming with dolphins, you name it.

If your interests are more cultural, Playa del Carmen has tours to Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins (the great Mayan pyramids), Coba, Uxmal, Tulum, Kabah, and other well known places with ruins left by the Mayans. Or you can be adventurous, rent a car and set out to discover your own Mayan ruins in the jungle.

There are also cenotes, which are unique to Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Cenotes are pools where the water from underground rivers has come up to the surface, forming a beautiful, natural lake of fresh or brackish water tightly surrounded by lush, green jungle. They make a perfect spot for taking a refreshing swim.

Cenotes were sacred to the Mayans. It is where they used to make their sacrifices to the gods, so it is not unusual to find ancient pottery in them, along with other mysteries they hold. In fact, cavern and cave diving in cenotes have become very popular in the area. It's perfectly safe as long as you are going with an expert.

There are various eco parks such as Tres Rios, Xcaret, Xel-Ha, and Xpu-Ha that offer you a variety of activities on the beach and jungle. A few of them have small zoos with the animals that are typical the Riviera Maya, including dolphins which you can swim with.

Aside from all this flurry of activity, there is the famous Playa del Carmen night life. There are restaurants that offer different cuisines, such as Mexican, Italian, French, Mayan, Argentinean, Spansih, Thai. Of course there are dozens of bars, with live music and a wide variety of drinks to offer.

If you decide you want a place where you can rest and relax, then you can get a tan on any of the beautiful, powder, white sand Caribbean beaches and read a book. All the beaches are public and accessible to anybody that wants to go and make use of them.
